What is a transfer switch?

2024-11-14

The main function of the cam-type universal transfer switch is to switch current. This type of switch is quite common in various applications. It is essential to operate the universal transfer switch correctly, otherwise it may cause circuit failure. The use of this switch is limited by environmental conditions and must be avoided at extremely high or low temperatures to avoid damaging the switch. Next, the operation method of the universal transfer switch will be introduced.

Isolator Switch

The operation steps of the cam-type universal transfer switch are as follows:

1. Drive the shaft and cam through the handle to push the contact to be connected or disconnected. Due to the different shapes of the cam, the overlap of the contacts will be different when the handle is in different positions, thereby realizing the switching of the circuit.

2. Common products include LW5 and LW6 series, of which the LW5 series can control small-capacity motors of 5.5kW and below, while the LW6 series can only control small-capacity motors of 2.2kW and below. When performing reversible operation control, it must be ensured that the motor is completely stopped before reverse start. The universal transfer switch of the LW5 series can be divided into self-resetting type and self-positioning type according to the characteristics of the handle. The self-returning handle can automatically return to its original position when in use, while the self-positioning handle stops at a specific position and will not return automatically.
